Gymnastics Results: Feb. 18

LAKELAND 88.75, WARSAW 63.575

It was a short night for Warsaw, with only two active gymnasts available. Lakeland only had five, making for a quick meet.

Missing Erika Bugg to illness, Warsaw still had first-place scores in three of the four disciplines as well as the top two all-around scores.

Sydni Purvis had a big night, scoring 8.65 on vault and 7.4 on beam to lead the meet, and with 7.35 on bars and 8.825 on floor scored a 32.225 to take all-around honors. Daylen Turner scored 8.95 on floor to lead the way in her senior night. Putting an 8.575  on vault, 7.4 on bars and 6.425 on beam, Turner scored 31.35 in all-around to trail just Purvis.

Lakeland’s Emily Byer tied Purvis on vault and teammate Natalie Huffman scored 7.4 to take beam.

DEKALB 106.4, WAWASEE 92

In a make-up meet at DeKalb, Wawasee ran into the sectional frontrunner Barons peaking at the right time.

DeKalb’s team score was a season-best, and saw Sarah Boyd and Lauren Blythe command the meet. Boyd was first on vault, bars and floor and second on beam while Blythe was first on beam and second on both bars and floor. The two went one-two in all-around.

Wawasee had a personal best on vault with a 9.0 from Aundreya Wegener and a 9.1, personal best from Talia Kuhl on floor. Kenady Meerzo added a 8.525 on floor, which was her personal best.

ANGOLA MIDDLE SCHOOL 114.15, WAWASEE 101.6

In the first middle school meet of the year for Wawasee, the team saw Delaney Delagrange score second on beam with a 9.3 and also place sixth on vault at 9.55 and sixth on bars at 8.9. Delagrange scored a 37.05 in all-around for the meet. Abby Helman added an 8.75 on vault and 8.6 on floor and Alyssa Kunish had an 8.5 on vault and 7.6 on floor. Ella Beer added an 8.3 on beam and 8.0 on floor for the Warriors.

Avery Boyer scored a 38.55 in the all-around for Angola. Boyer had a 9.8 on vault and tied teammate Jayma DeLancey with a 9.75 on floor. Bailey Lanoue scored a consistent all-around of 37.345.
